Last month in the Dominican Republic, we started something that we’ve carried over into this month and expanded. We began doing it during team time and feedback every night, and it’s brought incredible life to our team and the girls in our house.
It’s called Ask The Lord, or as the World Race calls it: ATL.
In other words, it’s prophecy.
God is MOVING.
It sounds intimidating. But once you realize that it’s just asking the Lord about what He desires and has for a person or situation, and that it’s always uplifting, encouraging, strengthening, and guiding…it’s amazing.
We practiced this like babies at Training Camp. Many of us had never experienced ATL before. We’d heard of prophecy, yet had never done it or really ever thought we could. But that thought is SO wrong. God speaks to each and every one of us, and we DO hear Him.
We’re learning to ask Him about everything.
We’re learning to hear His voice.
We’re learning to distinguish between His voice and ours.
We’re becoming courageous in speaking what we feel Him speak to us.
We’re becoming less afraid of messing up.
We’re becoming fearless.
It’s awesome and FREEING.
The pictures and words that “randomly” pop into our heads…those aren’t just silly things. Sometimes they are, but that’s where the discernment comes in, and that’s where listening to see what God has to say about that person comes in, too. It takes practice, but it’s meant to be a growing process.
God loves us so much. He greatly desires to speak into our lives and uplift us. I believe this is the kind of powerful community we were made for. We’re just beginning to discover it and scratch the tip of the surface of all He has for us.
Every night we pick a name. So far we’ve prophesied over 9 girls. It’s amazing how every person is so incredibly unique, and how God speaks to them in different ways. As a result, no night is the same. The visions and words the Holy Spirit gives us for each girl is so mind-blowingly different; the dynamic changes every time. It’s absolutely beautiful.
The only constant is the Holy Spirit, because He COMES and blows our minds every night.
We are learning that the Holy Spirit speaks to us, that we hear Him, and we are speaking life and growth and love over each other.
Last night we were able to Ask The Lord for all 3 of our squad leaders and another team leader visiting our area for a couple days. We’ve never done 4 people in 1 night before, but God showed up! Hello, prophecy party! Two hours later, He’d spoken incredible words of encouragement and boldness and growth and life over them. He gave us amazing visions and words for them.
It’s so cool to glimpse through prophecy the plans that God has for each of His precious children. It’s becoming one of my most favorite things.
“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
That passage is one of my all-time favorites, and it rings such amazing TRUTH! God is on the MOVE here in Haiti. It’s hard and crazy and hot, and there’s a lot of down time, but that just means time to rest in Him, to learn how to hear Him and continue to focus on growing closer to Him individually and together. It’s SO COOL.
I love what God is doing in my team and my squad. Pray for more Holy Spirit movement…I know this is just the beginning of HUGE things to come!
Holy Spirit, come!
