Often when I start writing, I don’t know what I’m going to write about. But I know I need to start anyway. Recently I’ve been hearing the Lord whisper into my ear the same thing I’ve heard over the years, “I want you to write.” “Start writing, Jess.”
And I sit there and I hear that and I long with everything that I am TO write, but I don’t know WHAT.
But this needs to stop being a time of waiting for WHAT and turn into a season of “Okay, Lord, I’m going to trust You and I’m just going to START.” Hello, life lesson!
It’s not for me. It’s for You, Lord. I often worry I want to write for ME. But then why would I be writing? Sure, fame is great and all, but when I think about fame, I think about a spotlight, and I actually hate being in the spotlight—I dislike being the center of attention.
As a human it’s normal to want to be noticed and loved and appreciated. When I write I long for those things, in my humanness, but as I seek the Lord and push past myself and focus on Him, I long to change the world and show them the depth and beauty and vibrant GREATNESS of His love.
So this blog will be a mashup of inspirations from the Lord, stories and words I hear from Him, shared not because I want to be noticed but shared because He is calling me to write, and I need to stop making excuses and just do it.
Whoever reads this blog, yes, YOU sitting here reading this…well, you’re here for a reason and I’m not great at marketing this blog, so know that you’re here because God wants you to know something—first, that He loves you more than you could ever imagine and He has a far greater plan for your life than you do.
He has something important for you—and perhaps there are words in these blogs you need to read. I don’t presume to know why I’m writing or why you’re here. I don’t presume to know that you need anything I write. But maybe God will use something here to show you something new, something you need.
Just look for the blog that resonates, and let it sink into your soul, because you may need it for something. At least that’s what I feel He’s saying to you. You need to take it back to Him and ask God what He wants to say to you through this blog. He’ll show you.
P.S. I write full-time for Feed My Starving Children (go check out their website and blog)…an amazing organization running after God’s heart and a crazy vision to feed ALL of God’s starving children around the world. I think sometimes this writing after work thing is hard because I literally write for a living, and I know I need to write on my own time, but I honestly get sick of staring at a computer screen all day!
But, I’m done with excuses. Here we go! Welcome to Tales of a Redhead 🙂 I’m glad you’re here.
I went on The World Race during September 2012 – July 2013. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding things I have ever done. I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. It has changed me. I am a writer, with a dream to travel the world and write about how God is moving and changing lives. I have the amazing opportunity to write for Feed My Starving Children. It is one of greatest blessings to get to work for such a Holy-Spirit led organization. Talk about a huge answer to prayer! I am passionate about sharing Jesus’ love and I hope this blog will be a testament to that. This blog will be a tornado of different writings, whether it’s a personal, vulnerable blog or something the Lord has laid on my heart or an article I want to share. It will be random and ridiculous and relevant and my hope is to radiate Christ. I want this to be a dialogue, a place to share what God is doing and how He is bringing His people all around the world closer and closer to Him.
